CHINIOT: Chiniot Police on Friday foiled a major terror bid and apprehended two suspected persons for attempting to smuggle weapons, ammunitions from Sargodha to Lahore. The police, on a tip, setup a check post on Sargodha Road near Darbar Wadi Aziz Sharif and stopped a suspicious car. During search process, police recovered at least 19 rifles, 69 pistols, 22,000 bullets and three kilogrammes of charas, which were hidden in various sections of the vehicle. The police apprehended two suspected persons identified as Khalid and Shafiq. The suspects have been shifted to undisclosed location for further investigation. District Police Officer (DPO) Mustansar Feroz, in a press conference, said that the car was designed in a certain way. The suspects were shifting the weapons and drugs from Haripur to Lahore, he added.
