ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Tehmina Janjua on Friday handed custody of Ubaidullah, an Afghan national who went missing in Pakistan during his stay in the country, to the Afghan Embassy in the nation’s capital.
Ubaidullah had come to Pakistan along with his parents for medical treatments of his father, but later went missing, said the Foreign Office (FO) in a statement. The child’s mother departed to Afghanistan after his father succumbed to illness and after numerous unsuccessful attempts to locate her son.
Talking on occasion, Tehmina said that the way Ubaidullah was taken care of in Pakistan only shows how connected the two countries are. She further added that both, Pakistan and Afghanistan, aim to eliminate terrorism and establish peace across the region.
The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) took custody of Ubaidullah after he was found by Islamabad Police in 2015.
