LAHORE: Sacked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Safdar on Sunday claimed that the world will witness Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) victory on September 17 in the NA-120 by-election.
Maryam chaired PML-N’s session in Model Town to deliberate upon the preparations and to devise future strategies. Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry and lawmaker Maiza Hameed participated in the meeting.
Maryam said the Panama case had continued for a year and half and her family was humiliated. She remarked that the name of her father was not even in the Panama Papers. The decision of this case has been announced four times, and will now come up for fifth time, she maintained. Maryam said that when a leader becomes popular then iqama type decisions are declared against him. She was referring to the verdict due to which Nawaz was sent home by the Supreme Court on July 28. She said let it be known that PML-N believed in the rule of law and praised the role of lawyers for upholding the constitution in the country. She also reminded that the PML-N and lawyers worked shoulder to shoulder against former president Pervez Musharraf. She made it clear that her party is not violating any rule, and the election campaign is being held under the guidelines of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). She also praised the enthusiasm of party workers. Those who disqualified him should be asked why the guarantor of development was sacked, she added. The people will give the verdict on on September 17, she added. The NA-120 seat fell vacant in the wake of Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification. The Sharifs were given more than a year to prove their innocence, but they failed.
